By Implementing the requirements detailed in this procedure, the residential home ensures that all medications in the residential home are prescribed, ordered, stored and disposed of in a safe and legal manner to maximise resident safety and wellbeing.
This policy was recently updated to incorporate the NMBI Code of Professional Conducts and Ethics for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives 2021, the Antimicrobial Point Prevalence Survey of HSE Older Persons Residential Care Facilities 2020/2021, Antimicrobial stewardship Guidance for all healthcare settings and Safe Prescribing and Dispensing of Controlled Drugs.
